Family Table

A solid claro walnut table made for a family’s private residence in New York, 2024.

Each leg is an autonomous sculpture. Solid pieces of walnut, mitered together to create larger blocks and turned half rounds, balance in totems. A 1/2 inch steel rod acts as an invisible thread, stitching each shape together. Claro inlays, used to mend the quilted-together top, interrupt the inherent movement of the wood’s figure. Each part of this equation is woven together to create a motley family.
